Tires, filled with rainwater, bring serious disease due to mosquito infestation. And tires just don't go into the waste landfill well, they're so big, they hold water and vermin, and they're bulky!
Tires, when burned really darken the atmosphere. Stink up the place, pollute the air. The only real way to get rid of tires is to shred them, using machines to cut them up into small parts rubber slices, and bury them. They do NOT disintegrate by THEMSELVES, but they can be made much smaller than they are in natural state and they bury pretty well even if they DON'T denigrate over time. It's why the Walmarts and other tire retailers of the world CHARGE for disposal; it take money to shred tires to their smallest parts.
But there are so many who won't pay the price to shred the tires properly, and so they just dump them anywhere... leaving their disposal and their mosquito problems to landowners to got their 'gifts' when no one was watching! This is why the EPA rightfully should address property owners who allowed the dumping of unwanted tires on their lands to pay for their proper disposal. Who ELSE would you suggest should pay for disposal? Barack Obama? Oh the poor victim landowners? Let the government clean up this mess?
Let's bring back an aggressive US EPA now that the Bush republicans have told them not to get too aggressive about cleaning up America!
Yes, now we have to pay for disposal, and force landowners in court to pay for tire disposal, since all Bush's money went for was to the war!
