Republicans don't REDISTRIBUTE WEALTH too?

Screaming liberal that I am, I still understand and agree with our capitalistic society where enterprise... business... is what makes our country WORK.

Liberals do too. The difference between liberals and conservatives, basically, is just a matter of how much supervision BUSINESS requires before its greed works against the best interest of the nation.

Surely thinking conservatives realize that bankers need to be supervised. If they didnt' before, they sure should NOW! Why don't we all agree that companies need regulation to force them to make money and still leave clean air and water after they're done? And that citizens need some consumer protection to prevent greedy businessmen from selling us tained food, poisoning their employees, and stinking up our air?

Simply looking at what China's doing should reinforce that idea we need to watchdog BUSINESS!

Chinese can't breath in their cities because of their own factory pollution. (Remember how they had to shut down factories for the Olympics?)

Medicine, food, and toy company executives are being EXECUTED by the Chinese government for selling bad quality products in order to make more money. And now Americans, and even Chinese are wondering if we should be buying ANYTHING we put on our bodies, or our babies, from these people?

The Chinese is a classic case of a country that has had no ethical rules or experience before. But now they're trying their hand at capitalism in global markets, including in America.

Surprise surprise, Americans have some more respect for human life and fairness than Chinese do. And we just don't tolerate bad food and bad drugs. We expect our food and drugs to be HIGHEST QUALITY. And yes, we're pressuring our government for force companies to tell us WHERE these products are actually made!! That Chinese goods may not be so good is not a surprise, is it? Given that they have so many people there, they actually limit married couples to just one child? And tend to supress bad news so no one will find out?

Life is just cheaper in China and India, because there are just too many people there!

Not surprising, so also are ethics related to selling quality products to consumers! It's time we all continue talking and listening, but mostly listening and trying to understand other people's perspectives. We all don't live by the same rules! Not even our own country. Otherwise, no one would have been surprised by this election.

We liberals think THIS country is about the PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE. Conservatives see this country as just ONE BIG MARKETPLACE where businessmen can make money for their families. There's why we so differed in this election campaign.

When people called into S&P tonight and were quick to talk about redistribution of wealth... well. Had I been Mister Parks, I would have gently pointed out that REPUBLICANS TOO seek this evil "redistribution of wealth." They seek to give congressmen campaign contributions in return for a fair hearing to get the government to throw some business in the direction of the contributors.

Whether they build bridges to nowhere, to somewhere, or make "Ready to Eat" meals for the Marines, smart bombs, laundry services for the Navy, fighters for the Air Force, stripes for interstate highways, paper for the Dept of Education, food for low income school students, computer services for the Dept of Agriculture, the EPA, the ARMY or the Forestry Service, or government tests to verify city water quality, air quality, hurricane forecasting, or even intelligence to catch possible terrorists when the board a plane in London for NY!

Everybody wants the government to take YOUR TAX MONEY and REDISTRIBUTE THAT WEALTH to THEM!

Sadly, our talk show friends don't explain that to their angry republican listeners. That's why they're still angry and the talk show hosts pretend not to understand why!
