A liberal's view a few hours before the last debate

I'm partisan. Didn't used to be but I'm out of the media now, so since I didn't get rich with paychecks from the media, I'm middle class and not a capitalist. Hence, I'm a Democrat, generally.

No straight ticket, some Dems just aren't right so I'll cross over. I won't for a Democrat who I think might not be a crook and Ill vote for NO candidate rather than just decide based on YARD SIGNS in the county!

BUT. I admit. I want McCain to look to America on this last debate like he has become. Too OLD. Not as caring about the future as a younger man might be. I'm afraid his run for the presidency is more to have a legacy for himself in history than for his grandchildren's future. Moreover, he missed his shot 8 years ago.

Shame on Karl Rove and his client, GWB! McCain would have been SUCH a better president over the whole field, and George W, but the Republicans never trusted him and so they got rid of McCain at his RIGHT TIME, for the dunce we actually GOT and all of us have regretted... GWB! I knew the republican hierarchy had rejected Bush early because RUSH dissed him from the outset. I knew McCain was toast in the primaries. Maybe the GOP wrote off this election so they sacrificed him and allowed his candidacy. I have no clue. That's WAY above my political pay grade to evaluate!

TODAY THOUGH. McCain missed his time. He's too eager for the job and doesn't have a vision. Palin was a mistake and is dangerous-- as it's turned out. A Hail Mary play that appeals to pretty much nobody and will be unhelpful even tho she was entertaining night after night on television. You know it. She's not ready for prime time and she's just not the image Americans want us to BE in the world.

So, sadly, we need McCain to lose... if for no other reason that he listened to the W CAMPAIGN HANDLERS. And they are impressive. Lord knows, they sold us a C STUDENT IDIOT name George TWICE, successfully! Shame on US and I'm pretty surprised republican voters aren't still smarting from that hoodwinking! They know it well. One could only hope that as much pain as we've suffered, they got their objective, whatever it was. And the country didn't suffer for just a miscalculation. We know the makers of smart bombs made a lot of money. Was it worth the blood and maiming of our dead and wounded? That's not for me to decide. I'm pretty anti-war and I only want to go to war against a ligitimate enemy, not one just to make money off of. Put another way, if a guy's really after my country, my kids, my countrymen... I fired expert in the Army twenty years ago, and I'm ready to go now. But not for some horseshit political reason to keep the weapons-makers getting new federal contracts. THAT I will not do! Fuck with my country and watch out for ME! But not for corporate profits!

OBAMA.

I mostly like this guy because he's new, he seems radical not conservative, he may be a front guy who can sell us the image I want US to have overseas. He's a little like Kennedy, yes! It surely wasn't the embarrassment of the BUSH FAMILY of TEXAS-- their arrogant never-do-well son George!!

And Obama's a smart guy. Smarter than I am! I admit it.

I think Bush was a DUMB guy and we knew that didn't work but his PROMOTION was far beter than HE was. And so the Republican machine SOLD him, and where it was too close, they stole it in court. No matter what, the end result didn't turn out so good, did it?

Even if you don't like this Obama guy's liberal politics, at least you can trust that he will think out difficult overseas problems. We haven't had that from the Bush mal-thinkers like Cheney. We're lucky they didn't get us ALL killed. Only some of our kids. Rah Rah die for the flag. We vietnam era guys don't swallow that shit for a half second! And McCain's strategy has been more about discrediting OBAMA--his opponent-- rather than showing us why we should trust HIM!

I think he's pissed off too many people of both political parties and will not be able to deliver on ANY of his promises. I don't thnk he's an EQUALIZER and DEALMAKER. I think he actually won't be able to get ANYTHING DONE.

People who don't want the government to pass ANY legislation will LOVE McCAIN. He won't get a DOGCATCHER's new job passed...and lots of people think that's just great! McCain, a republican facing a democratic Congress will get NOTHING passed. And fankly, expect for Sarah Palin's ramblings, I dont think McCain really wants to pass any legislation.

He wants what REPUBLICANS WANT. No government action!

If you want government to actually change, Obama's the answer. If you want government to be in dissaray, McCains your answer. Go pick!

Screw "USA, USA, USA" chants. We've lost our best sons for nothing. Yes, we of the last (Vietnam) generation didn't like hearing that either. But go look up the world 'jingoism' and think of the Germans who were hoodwinked into sacraficing their sons for a really shitty idea only right before we were born.

A very sad affair.
