CHINESE VIDEO: Not the kids 1st day on the job,
We see why
things from China are cheaper. Our leaders have a bill before Congress to outlaw
the children of farmers to help until they are 16.
There
was a time, way back when, I can remember my first time on a tractor, but all
things considered this kid had me beat hands down. Now days, you would have all
kinds of Federals Screaming their Bloody Heads Off.
Russian: Americans, never give up your guns
This will probably come as a total shock
to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the
most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were
free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles
and shotguns were everywhere, common items. People carried them
concealed, they carried them holstered. Fighting knives were a prominent
part of many traditional attires and those little tubes criss crossing
on the costumes of Cossacks and various Caucasian peoples? Well those
are bullet holders for rifles. Read the rest of the Disarming of Russia. (Reposted from Pravda)

Young People hit hard by this economy!
The dismal jobs situation in America is even worse for young adults, who are suffering an unemployment rate 30 percent higher than the national average of 7.8 announced by Washington Friday.
According to Generation Opportunity, which charts unemployment for Millennials aged 18-29, the rate is 11.5 percent and a shocking 22.1 percent for younger black Americans.
Here's their release just received by Secrets:
December's Millennial Jobs Report: Youth Unemployment at 11.5 Percent
Probably not the only hard hit.
Those approaching RETIREMENT age, paying off their children's educations, finding higher health care costs, saving for retirement are probably also hard hit. Why? Because they can't find jobs, can't get HIRED by younger managers at ANY wage. There's this natural descrimination of both the young and inexperienced, and the older and experienced.
This is a serious problem when politicians try to delay retirement to age 70 for Social Security and Medicare. We oldsters can't get hired on, even though we're good, stable workers who know stuff. Younger managers would rather hire yet younger people, even if they don't know much. My mother told me this years ago, when she was in her fifties. She was right. I learned this when "I" was in my fifties.
Society remains too preoccupied with youth, even if there aren't all that many of them. It's a media phenomena, and if you watch the TV shows, you can see it in their show casting, and their stereotypes on today's network comedy shows.
There are SO many oldsters, baby boomers, fifties and sixties. But television which dictates American trends, doesn't really acknowledge them so much. Must be because TV thinks they can't SELL STUFF to them. Dunno. We have lotsa money but they don't seem to get that. Expensive cars, vacations, upscale homes, jewelry, investments, Vegas, and buying shit for our kids and grandkids! Hell, my wife spends more on our grandbaby than we spent on our OWN kids...because now, we have the money!

December's Millennial Jobs Report: Youth Unemployment at 11.5 Percent
Washington, DC - (1/4/13) - Generation Opportunity, a national, non-partisan organization advocating for Millennials ages 18-29, is announcing its Millennial Jobs Report for December 2012. The data is non-seasonally adjusted (NSA) and is specific to 18-29 year olds:
The overall unemployment rate for 18-29 year olds for December 2012 is 11.5 percent (NSA).
The unemployment rate for 18-29 year old African-Americans for December 2012 is 22.1 percent (NSA); the unemployment rate for 18-29 year old Hispanics for December 2012 is 12.2 percent (NSA); and the unemployment rate for 18-29 year old women for December 2012 is 10.4 percent (NSA).
The declining labor force participation rate has created an additional 1.7 million young adults that are not counted as "unemployed" by the U.S. Department of Labor because they are not in the labor force, meaning that those young people have given up looking for work due to the lack of jobs.
If the labor force participation rate were factored into the 18-29 unemployment calculations, the actual Millennial unemployment rate would rise to 16.3 percent (NSA).
"As Washington argues over short-term fixes, Millennials are wondering why their elected leaders continue to ignore critical issues such as unprecedented youth unemployment as well as the larger concern of addressing the nation's underlying fiscal challenges," said Matthew Faraci, senior vice president for communications at Generation Opportunity and a former U.S. Labor Department spokesperson.
