It's absurd to listen to Republicans trying to make some hay about light skin and dialects in America today.
Not like our entire society doesn't understand about light skin. Ya can't help but wonder how much Michael Jackson spent on bleach to lighten what was already an attractive complexion and face.
Sadly, America was ahead of his feelings about color for we all loved him as he was! And how TV networks like CNN and stations like LIGHT-colored blacks with narrow noses and more thin lips more than DARK Afrikkans just as they like slender blond hot Euro-anchors more than dumpy older ones. Sad but true. So let's not get too indignant about this!
And black women spending MILLIONS to straighten their kinky hair and deal with their young daughters unhappy with their stubborn hair. Plenty of money being spent on hair straightening, especially among those who go on television and into the professions.
And the obvious issues of dialect. My view has always been that it's the ultimate form of racism for KCSD teachers (and teachers across the nation) to NOT correct black children as they do white children for mispronunciations of the language. I only hope they're not doing it to keep from being sued!
WHO AMONG US DOESN'T KNOW FULL WELL that SUCCESS IS MORE LIKELY FOR dialect-free minorities of every stripe (like black, Hispanic, German, Russian, Indian, Pakistani, Arabic) land good jobs in the media, and politics, and banking, and most businesses!
We all know these things. And we watch the Republicans pretend indignancy on these recent, and periodic news events about skin color and eubonic dialects.
My view is that these are just more reasons why Republicans (and their lies) show me they are not fit to govern MY COUNTRY. Not sure? Well, look at your heath care increases this next year. Still positive about unfettered capitalism?
