WHY doesn't KMBC-TV buy out a hi-strength, low rated AM radio station to simulcast?

Given that morning television is in direct competition with morning radio, for home listeners, I'm very surprised the TV stations offer their people... what does the larger audience teevee stations have to gain by giving aid and comfort to radio stations?

Radio can't be paying that much for the TV talent to do traffic and weather. And radio doesn't have enough audience for TV stations to need them to sample 4, 5, 9, and 41. Everyone knows Weather Gary's good. Chris Ketz is good. Joel's a nice guy even if not a card carrying graduated meteorologist. And KMBC's copter guy is unrivaled!

Were I TV, I'd be more interested in buying OUT a radio frequency, and be even MORE successful. Catch em at home, catch em in their cars! Ta HELL with giving my TV staff to radio stations to compete with me!

Hell 610 ought to be cheap, and 710 too. Buy em out, simulcast the TV morning show and run the rest of the day as is at the radio stations! Maybe even simulcast the 5pm news for folks still on the road!

TEEVEE station managers need to revisit "Naisbitt's "MEGATRENDS" and concentrate on his chapter called "The Law of the Situation." TV stations aren't in the TELEVISION business, they're in the ADVERTISING business. Moving the AT HOME SETS to CARS is such a natural progression to keeping audience who doensn't have a television handy because theyr'e on their way TO WORK or HOME from WORK. Screw radio! Buy em out. Its just another way to reach your peeps!

People would probably love for KMBC-TV's morning show to be in their cars. They turn off the tv, go out and get in the car, and lose 3 minutes of broadcast... get the same helicopter reports, same weather, same news, same professional staff, and YES, MORE REACH for your SPOTS! What a deal. Instant rise to number one! TV stations have the staffs to make it work.

I can't believe CNN hasn't done it in the top 50 radio markets!

how much can loser AM stations below 100.hz SELL FOR? GIve em an offer they can't refuse and then reduce all adult morning shows to teenagers wanting music!
