Obama in KC: More McCain Scare Tactics

Drudge writes unfair headline. Yahoo's actually story line was softer and more accurate:
McCain suggests Obama tax policies are socialist

And here's what OBAMA said later

Obama rips McCain in Missouri: My tax plan isn't socialism

By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist

Barack Obama has talked in St. Louis Saturday and will be in KC tonight. Obama's main point before huge crowds in St. Louis: He's sick and tired of John McCain trying to mislead Americans about the Democrat's tax plan.

Essentially, McCain and running mate Sarah Palin are telling Americans that Obama's plan is "socialism." (Yes, they are now using that word on the campaign trail.)

McCain claims there's no way Obama can give 95 percent of Americans a tax break since tens of millions don't even pay taxes. Why, that's "sharing the wealth" with people who haven't earned it, whines McCain.

But he's wrong.

On Saturday, Obama did a great job explaining his tax plan -- and why it's better than McCain's.

"Sen. McCain wants to give the average Fortune 500 CEO a $700,000 tax cut but absolutely nothing at all to over 100 million Americans. I want to cut taxes – cut taxes – for 95 percent of all workers."

Is McCain listening? That's 95 percent of all workers.

"...Lately, Sen. McCain has been attacking my middle class tax cut. He actually said it goes to, “those who don’t pay taxes,” even though it only goes to working people who are already getting taxed on their paycheck. That’s right, Missouri – John McCain is so out of touch with the struggles you are facing that he must be the first politician in history to call a tax cut for working people “welfare.”
